Understand the importance of risk assessment
The importance of a risk assessment, whether it is an initial assessment or you’re repeating the process, should never be underestimated.
They’re the key to identifying and raising awareness about specific risks, including finger trap hazards, and give employers and other responsible persons the grounding to evaluate, control and eliminate the issues that could be detrimental to the safety and wellbeing of everyone who uses the setting.
It is important to acknowledge that the regular completion of risk assessments is a legal requirement for every UK employer with over five staff members. Businesses and other organisations that fail to complete risk assessments are liable for several penalties as the British Safety Council explains:
“It can be a costly lesson for a business if they fail to have necessary controls in place. They could face not only financial loss (through fines, civil actions, etc) but also loss in respect of production time, damage to equipment, time to train replacement employees and negative publicity amongst others.”

It’s time to risk assess
Our door safety risk assessment is easy to complete. Simply input the date of the assessment, along with the auditor’s name and organisation’s details, before starting the assessment process. A risk assessment will need to be undertaken for each door on the premises. If you need to assess a larger number of doors, simply download our continuation assessment sheet.
During the assessment, you should identify the door type and the most suitable Fingersafe product. You should also describe the location of the door as clearly as possible and enter its colour to ensure the right Fingersafe pinch protector guard can be fitted.
Return your forms to us
Once you’ve finished assessing all the doors within your building, simply scan and return the completed forms to our team. Risk assessment forms can be emailed to us direct via safety@fingersafegb.com. We do however recommend keeping the hard copy of your completed risk assessment for your health and safety records.
When we’ve received your forms, we will review the documentation and contact you with any queries. The quotation stage comes next, with our door safety systems available as supply only or supply and fit products.
